Karelian Cultural Society

Rebranding

The workshop outlined the current state, goals and soul of the society.

The new logo honors the previous one, designed by Bruno Tuukkanen in 1917, in which two Karelian rune singers sit facing each other, holding hands. The visual style retains the richness inherent in Karelian visual culture, while its simplification allows it to function effectively in contemporary communication.

The website content adapts to different browser windows.

Website technical implementation:: La&La. Photography: Kim Öhman.

The characteristic use of colors and forms typical of Karelian handicrafts is reflected in the patterns of the design.

The electronic material bank contains the brand guidelines and all the files needed for the client’s communication, in an easily accessible format. There were four different Karelian-language emblems, and in addition to these, there are also language versions of the emblem in Finnish, Swedish, English, and Russian.
